Day 57: Breathing is Connection
There has never been a better time to simply breathe. Do it now. Deep, lung-filling, belly expanding breath in through the nose. If you haven’t done this in awhile, it may make you cough. Cough out the stagnant debris of inaction. Exhale through your mouth by making the sound of “ha.” Contract your abdomen to force out all the air.
Do this a few times until you feel a cleansing of energy. This breath, the exchange of inhaling and exhaling is who you are. The word inspiration means both a sudden, creative idea and the drawing in of breath. In Middle English, inspire means divine guidance. Breathing is your conscious connection to the creative force of the divine.
Is it any wonder that the world is currently gripped in a pandemic that takes away the ability to breathe? We are being asked to cover our mouths and noses. We hold our breath for fear we will contract a deadly virus.
As a collective energy, the world has lost our connection to each other. People are spewing out division in the form of nationalism, culturalism, racism and sexism in all levels of politics, religion and community.
There is no separation between you and any other air-breathing animal. We all must breathe. We are connected in the breath. We share the air with each other and the earth. The idea of separation is the lie. Separation, differences, divisiveness are rooted in fear. Connection is the truth of existence.
Affirmation: Breathe. Fill up your body and spirit with the breath that connects all. Feel the connection at the level of your heart. Breathe in through your heart, breathe out through your heart.
