Lesson 1, Day 4: Set your intention to heal, envision the new you.

Updated: Feb 5, 2020

Healing is a Decision

As you journal your gratitudes for today, set aside time to write down your intention for healing. What does healing mean for you?

We get attached to the idea of curing a disease. We expect doctors and scientists to cure cancer, or Parkinson’s, or a number of dangerous viruses. Curing an illness is not the same as healing from a dis-ease. Curing involves the removal of sickness, or the inactivation of a virus or bacteria. Healing involves making yourself whole again, so that sickness or dis-ease does not manifest in you.

What would it mean for you to be healed? No more flare-ups of inflammation? No more pain? No more cancer? Remission from dis-ease. A constant state of wellness.

Write it down. Construct a story of what your future is without dis-ease. Write goals for what you want to do in the next year and 5 years, 10 years, 50 years.

Healing for me means that my body is strong, without pain, and able to carry me through each day of living with purpose. When those words were not yet true, I wrote them down anyway and created an image in my mind of myself in the future. In my vision, I was strong, exercising and sweating; smiling. I was told early in my diagnosis that I could lose the ability to walk. I envisioned myself jogging up and down a flight of stairs. I could see the strength in my future even when I couldn’t feel it in my physical body.

Close your eyes. Give in to the daydream of what you desire for the future. Picture yourself doing the things you long to do, with the people you love. Or, picture yourself with someone you have not met, but long to attract into your life. Feel the happiness and peace that comes from being well.

Affirmation: I intend to be well. With wellness comes the feelings required to heal: love, joy and peace. I see myself in the lightness of healing, grateful for each new day and hopeful for the purpose I seek.
